Ultimate Nutella & Vanilla Cream Chocolate Layer Cake is the kind of dessert that stops conversation and starts cravings. Every forkful delivers a symphony of silky vanilla cream and rich hazelnut cocoa spread trapped between tender chocolate sponges. Fine crumbs add subtle crunch, while glossy ganache seals the deal.

Ingredients

  • Chocolate Sponge Base:3 round chocolate sponge cake layers Chocolate cake crumbs (finely crumbled cake scraps) Soaking syrup (milk or simple sugar syrup) Fillings & Spreads:Vanilla pastry cream or mousseline cream (in a piping bag) Hazelnut cocoa spread (such as Nutella) Smooth dark chocolate ganache

Instructions

  1. Pan Preparation & First Layer: Line a deep round cake pan or ring mold with clear plastic wrap. Place the first round chocolate sponge layer flat at the bottom. Cream Dam & Crumb Center: Pipe a thick
  2. continuous border of vanilla cream around the inside rim of the pan to act as a retaining wall. Scatter a layer of fine chocolate crumbs inside the center and gently spread them even with the back of a spoon. Nutella & Cream Filling: Spoon generous dollops of hazelnut spread into the center circle. Cover with a layer of vanilla cream and smooth it evenly using a spoon. Second Sponge Layer: Gently place the second chocolate sponge layer into the pan. Add another layer of chocolate crumbs and dollops of hazelnut spread over top. Ganache & Top Layer: Spread a thick
  3. glossy layer of chocolate ganache over the surface and smooth it flat with a spoon or offset spatula. Drizzle or spray the third chocolate sponge layer with soaking syrup

  5. pressing down gently to compact. Wrap & Chill: Fold the overlapping plastic wrap tightly over the top of the cake. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours until fully set and firm before unmolding.

Notes

  • Do not skip the plastic wrap lining or the cake will stick to the pan.
  • Do not rush the chill time; four hours is the minimum for a stable slice.
  • Do not forget the cream dam or the hazelnut spread will leak to the edges.
  • Do not press the sponges too hard or the fillings will squeeze out.
  • Do not omit the soaking syrup or the top layer will become dry.
