Savory, saucy nostalgia of a classic drive-thru burger in one crisp, handheld bite with golden wonton shells, seasoned beef, smoky bacon, melted cheddar, cool lettuce, and iconic special sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Crunch Cups & Filling:
  • 12 square wonton wrappers
  • Cooking oil spray (for the muffin tin)
  • 1/2 lb (225g) lean ground beef (cooked and seasoned with salt, pepper, and garlic powder)
  • 4 strips bacon, cooked until crispy and crumbled
  • 3/4 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • For the Toppings & Garnish:
  • 1 cup crisp iceberg lettuce, shredded
  • 1/4 cup dill pickles, finely diced
  • 2 tbsp white onion, finely diced
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
  • For the Special Burger Sauce:
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp sweet pickle relish
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1/2 tsp white vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat & Prep: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a standard 12-cup muffin tin with cooking spray.
  2. Form the Cups: Press one square wonton wrapper into each muffin tin cavity, folding the corners slightly to create a sturdy cup shape.
  3. Fill: Divide the cooked seasoned ground beef and crumbled bacon evenly among the wonton cups. Top each cup generously with shredded cheddar cheese.
  4. Bake: Bake for 10–12 minutes until the edges of the wonton cups are blistered, golden-brown, and the cheddar is completely melted and bubbling.
  5. Cool & Unmold: Let the cups cool in the tin for 2–3 minutes so the shells crisp up firmly, then transfer them to a serving board.
  6. Whisk the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, relish, yellow mustard, vinegar, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder until smooth.
  7. Load & Garnish: Top each warm cup with a mound of shredded iceberg lettuce, diced pickles, and diced onions. Drizzle generously with the special sauce and finish with a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Brown the ground beef deeply before seasoning for maximum savory depth.
  • Use a thorough coating of cooking spray on every surface of the muffin tin to prevent stuck wrappers.
  • Let baked cups rest for 2–3 minutes in the tin before lifting out so shells crisp into sturdy bowls.
  • Whisk the special burger sauce at least ten minutes ahead so flavors marry properly.
  • Add lettuce, pickles, and onions right before serving to prevent wilting and keep shells crisp.
  • Avoid overfilling wrappers past the rim to prevent weighing them down.
