A hearty, plant-based burger made with brown lentils, smoked paprika, and cumin for a savory, smoky flavor and perfect firm texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups Cooked Brown Lentils
  • 0.5 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup Yellow Onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil

Instructions

  1. Pulse 1 cup of lentils with onion, garlic, cumin, paprika, and salt in a food processor until a paste forms.
  2. In a bowl, stir the paste with the remaining 1 cup of whole lentils and breadcrumbs.
  3. Form into 4 firm patties about 1 inch thick.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  5. Sear patties for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Serve on toasted buns with desired toppings.

Notes

  • Ensure lentils are well-drained to prevent a mushy texture.
  • Resting the patties in the fridge for 30 minutes helps them stay together during cooking.
  • Do not use red lentils as they are too soft for burger patties.
