Ingredients
Scale
200 g marshmallows 80 g puffed rice cereal (such as Rice Krispies) 200 g milk chocolate (or semi-sweet chocolate, melted for dipping) 1 tsp neutral oil or butter (optional, to help smooth the chocolate)
Instructions
Melt the Marshmallows: Place the marshmallows in a heat-safe bowl and heat gently (microwave in 20–30 second bursts or use a double boiler) until completely melted
smooth
and stretchy. Combine with Cereal: Immediately pour the puffed rice into the warm melted marshmallow mixture and fold until every piece is evenly coated. Shape: Using lightly oiled hands
press the mixture into bite-sized balls and arrange them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Chill: Place the tray in the refrigerator for about 15–20 minutes until the balls firm up and hold their shape. Coat in Chocolate: Melt the chocolate until smooth and glossy. Dip each marshmallow ball into the melted chocolate using a fork to coat completely
shaking off any excess. Set: Return the coated treats to the parchment paper and chill in the fridge for another 10–15 minutes until the chocolate shell hardens.
Notes
Oil your hands generously before shaping the sticky marshmallow mixture.
Work in short bursts when melting marshmallows to avoid overheating and seizing.
Keep the cereal measured and nearby before you start.
Use a fork with thin tines for dipping so excess chocolate drips away cleanly.
Fold cereal into warm marshmallow immediately; adding to cold marshmallow causes crumbling.
Do not skip the initial chill, or balls may fall apart during dipping.
If chocolate feels thick, stir in optional oil or butter for a silkier coating.
