The tangy creaminess of Italian dressing melds with nutty Parmesan to create a sauce that bubbles up golden and irresistible in the oven. This dish fills your kitchen with the aroma of garlic and herbs while requiring just ten minutes of hands-on preparation.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup creamy Italian dressing
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons extra grated Parmesan, for topping
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil, for the baking dish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and lightly grease a baking dish with olive oil.
  2. Place the chicken breasts in the baking dish in a single layer.
  3. In a bowl, combine the creamy Italian dressing, grated Parmesan, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, black pepper, and salt.
  4. Pour the creamy Parmesan mixture evenly over the chicken, making sure each piece is generously coated.
  5. Bake for about 25–30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the top is golden and bubbling.
  6. Remove from the oven and let the chicken rest for a few minutes.
  7. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and additional grated Parmesan.
  8. Serve warm with the creamy sauce spooned over the chicken.

Notes

  • Always use freshly grated Parmesan rather than pre-shredded varieties, which contain anti-caking agents that prevent smooth melting.
  • Allow the chicken to rest after baking so the juices redistribute throughout the meat.
  • Use an instant-read thermometer to verify the internal temperature reaches 74°C.
  • Remove the chicken as soon as it reaches 74°C internal temperature to avoid drying out the meat.
  • Let your creamy Italian dressing come to room temperature before mixing to prevent the cheese from clumping.
  • Wait at least three minutes before cutting into the chicken after baking.
