2-Ingredient Chocolate Mousse Cups are the kind of kitchen magic that turns an ordinary evening into a tiny celebration. With just semi-sweet chocolate chips and cold heavy cream, you create a cloud of silk that melts on your tongue. The texture is airy yet rich, deep in cocoa flavor but light enough to enjoy after any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (170 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1½ cups (360 ml) cold heavy whipping cream, divided
  • Optional topping: whipped cream, chocolate shavings, berries

Instructions

  1. Heat ½ cup of the cream until steaming (don’t boil) and pour it over the chocolate chips.
  2. Let it sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth and glossy.
  3. Cool the chocolate to room temperature, about 15 minutes.
  4. Whip the remaining 1 cup cold cream to soft peaks.
  5. Fold a third of the whipped cream into the chocolate to loosen it, then gently fold in the rest.
  6. Spoon or pipe into cups and chill for 2 hours.
  7. Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings before serving.

Notes

  • Chill mixing bowl and beaters before whipping cream for best volume.
  • Remove cream from heat immediately when wisps of steam appear; do not boil.
  • Use a figure-eight folding motion with a rubber spatula to preserve air bubbles.
  • Ensure chocolate mixture is completely cool before folding in whipped cream to prevent deflating.
  • Use high-quality chocolate chips as the flavor is prominent.
