A classic French dish featuring a juicy, perfectly cooked steak served with crispy golden fries. It’s a simple yet indulgent meal that will satisfy your cravings.

Ingredients

  • Steak (ribeye, sirloin, or filet mignon): 1 steak per person, your choice of cut for optimal tenderness and flavor.
  • Potatoes (for fries): 2 medium potatoes per person, cut into thin strips for the perfect crispy fries.
  • Olive Oil: 2 tablespoons, for searing the steak and frying the fries.
  • Salt: To taste, for seasoning the steak and fries.
  • Pepper: To taste, for seasoning the steak and fries.
  • Fresh Parsley (optional): 1 tablespoon, chopped, for garnishing.

Instructions

  1. Preheat Your Equipment: Preheat your skillet to medium-high heat. Ensure your oil is hot before adding the steak.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Season the steak generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
  3. Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in the skillet and allow it to get very hot before adding the steak.
  4. Assemble the Dish: Place the steak in the hot skillet, cooking it for 3-4 minutes per side, depending on thickness and desired doneness.
  5. Cook to Perfection: While the steak is resting, fry the fries in hot oil until golden brown and crispy, about 4-6 minutes. Drain them on paper towels.
  6. Finishing Touches: Sprinkle the fries with salt and finely chopped parsley.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Plate the steak and fries together. Serve with your favorite sauce or just enjoy it as is.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure your steak reaches the desired level of doneness.
  • Double-fry your fries for an extra crispy result.
  • Let the steak rest for at least 5 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.
