Red Velvet Brownies

These Red Velvet Brownies combine the rich, chocolatey essence of brownies with the subtle tang and eye-catching hue of red velvet. Fudgy, flavorful, and irresistible.

Ingredients

  • Unsalted Butter: 1/2 cup (1 stick), melted
  • Granulated Sugar: 1 cup
  • Brown Sugar: 1/4 cup
  • Large Eggs: 2
  • Vanilla Extract: 2 teaspoons
  • Red Food Coloring: 1 tablespoon
  • All-Purpose Flour: 3/4 cup
  • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder: 1/4 cup
  • Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
  • White Vinegar: 1 teaspoon
  • Cream Cheese (optional): 4 oz, softened

Instructions

  1. Preheat Your Equipment: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well. Stir in vanilla extract and red food coloring. In another bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  3. Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan. If using cream cheese, drop spoonfuls over the top and swirl lightly. Add the remaining batter and smooth the top.
  4. Assemble the Dish: Tap the pan on the counter to release any air bubbles and ensure an even layer.
  5. Cook to Perfection: Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  6. Finishing Touches: Allow to cool completely in the pan before lifting out and slicing.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Serve plain or top with powdered sugar, whipped cream, or a drizzle of white chocolate.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the batter to maintain fudginess.
  • Cool completely before slicing for clean edges.
  • Chill for a gooier texture and neater cuts.
