A light, fluffy, and stable peanut butter buttercream frosting that is perfect for piping onto cupcakes or spreading over layer cakes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 3 tablespoons whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch sea salt

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and peanut butter together on medium speed until smooth and creamy.
  2. Slowly add the sifted powdered sugar one cup at a time, mixing on low speed until combined.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and sea salt.
  4. Pour in the milk one tablespoon at a time while beating on high speed.
  5. Continue to whip the frosting for 2-3 minutes until it is light and fluffy.
  6. Use immediately to frost cooled cakes or store for later use.

Notes

  • Avoid using natural peanut butter as the oil separation can make the frosting unstable.
  • If the frosting is too thick, add a tiny bit more milk; if too thin, add more powdered sugar.
  • Ensure your cake is completely cool before applying the frosting.
