No-Knead Bread Recipe

An artisan-style crusty bread with a soft, chewy interior that requires no kneading. Just mix, rest, and bake—perfect for beginners and seasoned bakers alike.

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1½ cups warm water

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and instant yeast.
  2. Pour in the warm water and stir until a shaggy dough forms. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a towel and let rest at room temperature for 12–18 hours.
  3. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) with a Dutch oven inside for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Lightly flour your work surface and hands, then shape the dough into a ball. Place it on parchment paper or a floured cloth.
  5. Carefully transfer the dough into the preheated Dutch oven. Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes.
  6. Remove the lid and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes, until golden brown.
  7. Remove the bread and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

  • Use bread flour for a chewier texture.
  • Add herbs or seeds during mixing for extra flavor.
  • Let the bread cool completely before slicing to avoid a gummy texture.
