These Lazy Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars are irresistibly chewy with a golden crisp edge and gooey chocolate center, made in just one pan with pantry staples.

Ingredients

  • Unsalted Butter: 1 cup, melted
  • Light Brown Sugar: 1 cup, packed
  • Granulated Sugar: ½ cup
  • Large Eggs: 2
  • Vanilla Extract: 2 teaspoons
  • All-Purpose Flour: 2¼ cups
  • Baking Soda: ½ teaspoon
  • Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips: 2 cups

Instructions

  1. Preheat Your Equipment: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda. Gradually fold the dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  4. Assemble the Dish: Stir in the chocolate chips. Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  5. Cook to Perfection: Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is set but slightly soft.
  6. Finishing Touches: Let the bars cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before lifting out and slicing.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Slice into squares or rectangles and enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Use parchment paper for easy lifting and cleaner cuts.
  • Don’t overmix to keep bars soft and chewy.
  • Slightly underbake for gooier centers that firm up as they cool.
