Bright, creamy, and irresistibly zesty, these Key Lime Pie Donuts combine the nostalgic flavors of classic pie with the fluffy delight of baked donuts—finished with a tangy glaze and graham cracker crunch.

Ingredients

  • All-Purpose Flour: 2 cups
  • Baking Powder: 2 teaspoons
  • Salt: 1/4 teaspoon
  • Granulated Sugar: 3/4 cup
  • Unsalted Butter: 4 tablespoons (melted)
  • Eggs: 2 large
  • Milk: 3/4 cup
  • Vanilla Extract: 1 teaspoon
  • Key Lime Juice: 1/4 cup (fresh squeezed preferred)
  • Key Lime Zest: 1 tablespoon
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk: 1/2 cup
  • Cream Cheese: 4 ounces (softened)
  • Powdered Sugar: 1 cup
  • Graham Cracker Crumbs: 1/2 cup

Instructions

  1. Preheat Your Equipment: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease your donut pan.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. In another bowl, whisk the melted butter, eggs, milk, vanilla, lime juice, and zest. Combine wet with dry until just mixed.
  3. Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Spoon or pipe the batter into the donut pan cavities about 3/4 full.
  4. Assemble the Dish: Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the tops spring back when touched. Cool in pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  5. Cook to Perfection: While the donuts cool, beat the cream cheese, sweetened condensed milk, and lime juice until smooth to make the filling.
  6. Finishing Touches: Pipe the filling into each donut from the side using a piping bag. Whisk powdered sugar with a little milk and lime juice for the glaze. Dip cooled donuts, then sprinkle with graham cracker crumbs.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Let the glaze set slightly, then serve fresh.

Notes

  • Use fresh key lime juice for the best flavor.
  • Cool donuts completely before glazing or filling.
  • Toast graham crumbs slightly to intensify their aroma.
  • Chill the filling for easier piping.
