Author:Ava DiMio
Ingredients
Scale
2 puff pastry sheets, thawed
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 fresh jalapeños, thinly sliced
1 egg yolk, beaten
All-purpose flour, for dusting
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Lightly flour your work surface and lay out the puff pastry sheets. Sprinkle shredded cheese over one sheet, then evenly place sliced jalapeños on top.
Place the second pastry sheet over the top like a sandwich. Gently press down to seal, then use a rolling pin to lightly press the layers together.
Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to slice the pastry into 1-inch wide strips. Twist each strip several times and lay them on the prepared baking sheet.
Brush the twists with beaten egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
Let them cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, sprinkle garlic powder over the cheese before twisting.
Chill the twists before baking to help them hold their shape.
Pair with cool dips like ranch or sour cream for contrast.
