Crispy, golden, and shaped with love, these heart shaped churros are the perfect treat for special occasions or cozy nights. Coated in cinnamon sugar and served with rich chocolate sauce, they’re as fun to make as they are to eat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar mixed with 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. In a heavy pot, heat oil to 350°F and line a tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a simmer until butter melts.
  3. Stir in flour and mix vigorously until a ball forms. Let it cool for a few minutes.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe heart shapes onto parchment squares.
  6. Chill piped churros in the fridge for 10–15 minutes.
  7. Slide hearts into hot oil, removing parchment as they release. Fry until golden on both sides.
  8. Drain on paper towels and roll in cinnamon sugar while still warm.
  9. Serve immediately with chocolate or caramel dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Use a candy thermometer to maintain oil temperature.
  • Chilling shaped dough helps it keep its form while frying.
  • Serve fresh for best texture and flavor.
  • Freeze piped churros to fry later for easy prep-ahead option.
