Soft and buttery heart-shaped sugar cookies decorated with a stunning pink and white marbled glaze for a professional bakery look.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2.5 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter, softened
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 0.5 teaspoons Almond Extract
  • 2 cups Powdered Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Milk
  • 1 drop Pink Food Coloring
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, vanilla, and almond extract.
  3. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  4. Roll dough on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness and cut out heart shapes.
  5. Place cookies on prepared sheets and bake for 8 to 10 minutes until edges are barely golden. Let cool completely.
  6. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar and milk in a shallow wide bowl until smooth.
  7. Place a tiny drop of pink food coloring on the icing and swirl gently with a toothpick.
  8. Dip the top of each cooled cookie into the icing, lift, and let excess drip off.
  9. Place cookies on a wire rack and allow the icing to set completely (about 1 to 2 hours).

Notes

  • Chill the cut-out dough for 10 minutes before baking to prevent spreading.
  • Use gel food coloring for the best marbling results.
  • Do not over-swirl the colors or they will become muddy instead of marbled.
