Soft, chewy, and packed with melty chocolate chips, these gooey chocolate chip cookies are a comforting treat that never goes out of style.

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto prepared baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 9–11 minutes or until the edges are golden and centers look slightly underbaked.
  8. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Chilling the dough for 30 minutes enhances flavor and reduces spreading.
  • Use a cookie scoop for evenly sized cookies.
  • For an extra touch, press a few chocolate chips on top of each dough ball before baking.
