Golden on the outside and creamy on the inside, these fried milk cubes are sweet, crispy, and full of warm cinnamon flavor. A simple dessert that’s both nostalgic and irresistibly comforting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups Whole Milk
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup All-Purpose Flour (for coating)
  • 2 Eggs, beaten
  • Vegetable Oil, for frying
  • 1/4 cup Sugar + 1 teaspoon Cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, whisk together milk, sugar, and cornstarch.
  2. Stir constantly for 8–10 minutes until the mixture thickens and becomes smooth.
  3. Pour into a parchment-lined square dish, smooth the top, and let it cool to room temperature.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight until firm.
  5. Cut the firm custard into squares. Dredge each piece in flour, dip into beaten eggs.
  6. Fry in hot oil until golden and crispy on all sides. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. Roll or dust the warm cubes in cinnamon sugar. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Chilling overnight ensures easier slicing and less mess during frying.
  • Use whole milk for the creamiest texture.
  • Reheat leftovers in an air fryer to revive crispiness.
