A rustic French onion pizza inspired by classic pissaladière, topped with slow caramelized onions, olives, and fresh herbs on a golden airy crust.

  • 4 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup pitted black olives
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium low heat.
  3. Add sliced onions and salt, then cook slowly for 25 to 30 minutes until soft and golden.
  4. Stretch the pizza dough onto a baking sheet.
  5. Spread the caramelized onions evenly over the dough.
  6. Scatter black olives across the surface.
  7. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes until the crust is puffed and golden.
  8. Remove from the oven, finish with fresh cilantro and black pepper, then slice and serve.
