Fluffy Homemade Bread

- 3½ cups all-purpose or bread flour
- 1 cup warm milk
- ½ cup warm water
- 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1½ teaspoons salt
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- Lightly grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan and set aside.
- In a bowl, dissolve sugar in warm water and milk. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add melted butter, egg, and salt. Stir in flour gradually until dough forms.
- Transfer to a floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down dough, shape into a loaf, and place in prepared pan. Cover and let rise again for 30–40 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden and loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
- Brush with melted butter after baking, cool slightly, then slice and serve.

- Chill the dough overnight in the fridge for slow fermentation and deeper flavor.
