- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp butter (for cooking)
- Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, sugar, and salt until smooth.
- Melt butter in the skillet, swirling to coat evenly.
- Dip each bread slice into the custard mixture, soaking for a few seconds per side.
- Place bread on skillet and cook 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Repeat with remaining slices, adding more butter as needed.
- Serve warm with syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh fruit.
Notes
- Use day-old bread for the best texture.
- Keep cooked slices warm in a 200°F oven until serving.
