Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat heavy cream until it begins to steam. Do not boil.
  3. Pour hot cream over the chocolate and let it sit for 2 minutes.
  4. Gently stir from the center outward until smooth and glossy.
  5. If needed, place the bowl over simmering water to fully melt.
  6. Stir in butter and vanilla if using. Mix until fully incorporated.
  7. Use immediately or let cool depending on desired consistency.

Notes

  • Chop chocolate finely for easier melting.
  • Use coconut milk for a dairy-free version.
  • Cool ganache for spreading or whip for a fluffy texture.
