Classic Brazilian chocolate truffles made with sweetened condensed milk, cocoa powder, and butter, then rolled in sprinkles, nuts, or coconut for a fun and fudgy bite-sized treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Pinch of salt
  • ½ cup chocolate sprinkles (for coating)
  • ½ cup rainbow sprinkles (for coating)
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (almonds, pistachios, etc.) for coating

Instructions

  1. In a nonstick saucepan, combine sweetened condensed milk, cocoa powder, butter, and salt.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, for 10–12 minutes or until the mixture thickens and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
  3. Transfer to a bowl and let cool for 15–20 minutes until firm enough to handle.
  4. Lightly grease your hands with butter, scoop small portions, and roll into balls.
  5. Roll each ball in your choice of sprinkles or chopped nuts to coat.
  6. Place finished brigadeiros on a parchment-lined tray and chill for 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use a silicone spatula to prevent burning and sticking while cooking.
  • Chill the mixture if it’s too soft to roll.
  • Try different coatings like coconut, crushed cookies, or edible glitter.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temp or refrigerate for longer shelf life.
